Uric acid is one of the most common health issues people suffer these days. When the uric acid level increases in the body, it leads to many health issues including intense joint pain, inflammation, limited range of motion and others. This is a serious health condition which needs immediate attention and professional advice. However, apart from taking prescribed medicines, one can also incorporate some Ayurvedic remedies at home which can help control the uric acid level in the body.

An Ayurvedic expert took to her social media recently and shared some tips on how to manage the uric acid level in the body at home. She wrote while sharing, "Suffering from uric acid or gout ? The underlying Causes could be : 1) excess Diuretics, 2) Drinking too much alcohol, 3) Hypothyroidism, 4) Obesity or 5) Purine rich diet (red meats,organ meats etc)."

Ayurvedic remedies to control uric acid

  • Triphala. Triphala is a Sanskrit word that means "three fruits." As the name suggests, it's an herbal treatment that consists of three fruits, namely bibhitaki, amalaki, and haritaki. Triphala has Anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Bitter herbs and foods like Giloy, Neem, Bitter gourd help reduce uric acid and Giloy juice helps neutralize the increased uric acid.
  • Astringent fruits like Cherries and dark berries.
  • Turmeric, Ginger
  • Dietary changes, such as reducing dairy, meat, and alcohol intake or cutting those foods out altogether, Exercise regularly
  • dice a green papaya and boil in water. Filter and sip this tea empty stomach. Papaya is very good for gout sufferers since it contains "papain" a proteolytic enzyme which is a natural anti-inflammatory, helping keep the body in an alkaline state, and may help prevent the buildup of uric acid in the blood.
