What Disc Weights Are Used In Olympic Weightlifting?
How much does the barbell weigh? The main apparatus of weightlifting is the barbell. It includes the area gripped by the athlete and supports the immense load of disc weights on either end. For men's competition, the bar is 2.2 meters (7.2 ft) long and weighs 20 kilograms (44 lbs). For women's competition, the bar is 2.01m long (6.6 ft) long and weighs 15 kg (33 lbs). The grip section also has a smaller diameter on the women's bar than the men's.
What disc weights are used in Olympic weightlifting? The discs used in Olympic competition are either rubber plastic (10kg-25kg) or metal (0.5kg-5kg).
Their weights and colors are as follows (pounds are approximate):
Discs are loaded identically on either side of the bar in order to ensure the bar is perfectly balanced at the center.
CollarsWeighing 2.5kg (5.5 lbs) each, a collar is placed on either end of the bar to secure the weight discs. The weight figure listed for a lift includes the weight of the discs, bar, and collars combined.
PlatformThis is the surface on which lifts are attempted. It is square and measures 4 meters by 4 meters (13 feet, 1 inch by 13 feet, 1 inch). Athletes must stay completely on the platform when attempting a lift.
Other equipmentThe following optional equipment may be used/worn by weightlifting athletes during competition:
Weightlifting beltProvides lower-back support during the lift. Must be worn outside the athlete's clothes can be a maximum of 12cm in width.
Protective equipmentBandages, tape and certain knee braces/sleeves may be worn to mitigate injury.
GlovesThe use of fingerless gloves and palm guards is permitted to protect the hands.
ChalkSimilarly to other Olympic sports like gymnastics and track and field (shotput), chalk is often used by weightlifters in order to eliminate moisture and help the bar rotate freely in the grip of the hands. Chalk is provided by the competition officials and is available just beside the platform.

This news is so big we had to give it its section. Remember how copper doors and trapdoors required whole blocks instead of just ingots? Well, that has now changed. Limited Run Games Accused Of Using Low-Quality Discs & People Are Blaming Wokeness, For Some Reason
Limited Run Games is a prolific company that makes physical editions of digital games. However, Limited Run Games is now accused of using low-quality CD-R discs for its recent 3DO re-releases.
As reported by the website Time Extension, it is claimed cult classics like Plumbers Don't Wear Ties and D are being delivered to customers on CD-R discs instead of being professionally pressed. Gamers with functioning 3DO systems cannot even boot up the games:
X user Voultar explains just how crappy the situation is, as Limited Run charges high prices for these re-releases:
$70 for a cheap CD-R that doesn't even work? Yikes.
This whole kerfuffle is bad enough, but the cesspool that is the X comment section decided to assign the entire blame for this on wokeness:
The Limited Run post about "supporting an inclusive culture" was put up after it was reported the corporation fired an employee over transphobic tweets. So it fired all of its quality control to make room for diversity? What does one have to do with the other? I should not be surprised, since X is host to a swath of people with vapid comments.
Owned by Embracer Freemode, Limited Run Games is a video game distributor that specializes in creating physical versions of video games, with older games being one of the biggest focuses of the company's products.
